Core Values

Innovation: Actively explore and innovate smart manufacturing technologies and solutions, and provide technical and intellectual support for the transformation and upgrading of the manufacturing industry.

Collaboration: Build broad and deep cooperation with industry, academia, government departments, and other sectors, and work together to advance the development of the smart manufacturing industry.

Sustainable development: Adhere to the principle of sustainability in development, and promote the environmental protection and social responsibility of smart manufacturing.

Researh focus

The term smart manufacturing arose in the mid-2000s by taking advantage of new technologies such as 3D printing (additive manufacturing), cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and internet of things. Smart manufacturing provides a new and advanced manufacturing environment with functions such as self-perception, self-learning, self-decision, self-execution, and self-adaptation. Thus, the overall production performance is significantly enhanced by the seamless connection and communication between manufacturing systems. The research center for smart manufacturing will mainly focus on the following emerging research areas:

Additive manufacturing
Laser manufacturing
Bio/Soft/flexible manufacturing
Robotics manufacturing and manufacturing automation
Digital twin of manufacturing systems
Big data and AI-driven manufacturing
